El Dorado's lead lined solid core wood doors are built to order, with lead thickness from 1/32" to 1/2". Our lead lined doors feature a continuous lead sheet that is placed in the center of a divided wood core and securely fastened with lead covered bolts. Lead doors are available with a variety of wood veneers including Red Oak, White Oak, Birch, and Maple. Plastic laminates with optional edge strips are also available on all lead lined doors. Edge strips are available for wood veneers and are standard on plastic laminates.

Lead Lined Plywood
El Dorado offers lead lined plywood paneling for lead lining walls, ceilings and floors. Like El Dorado's lead lined drywall, lead lined plywood is mastic bonded under heavy pressure to a single un-pierced piece of lead and comes complete with a seam strip on one end.
Lead lined plywood is generally used where a lead thickness in excess of 1/8" but less than 3/4" is required. Lead plywood panels can be fabricated in any width less than 48 inches and lengths less than 96 inches. Sizes should be based on stud spacing and panel weights. Each lead lined plywood panel should be sized to fully sustain its own weight without requiring intermediate fastening between joints. Lead plywood can be fire rated and is available in any grade and thickness
El Dorado offers full design and installation services for any lead plywood systems for radiation shielding including PET/CT shielding.
El Dorado's lead lined drywall (also known as lead lined sheetrock or lead lined gypsum) is available in 1/2" or 5/8" thicknesses. Our lead lined drywall is type X fire code sheetrock meeting classification ASTM C 36. We use pure lead sheeting which meets federal specification QQ-L-201-F, Grade C. The lead sheet is factory laminated to the back side of the drywall for superior performance. The lead extends 1" beyond on vertical edges of the drywall to allow for overlapping of the joints which eliminates the need for separate lead joint strips. 2" wide strips in lieu of the 49" lead width are available. Our lead lined drywall is extremely high quality and built using only the finest materials and craftsmanship.
Radiation shielding accessories for installation include sheet lead for backing and shielding of cut-outs for electrical, plumbing, medical gas, or other penetrations as well as corners with lead discs for screw penetrations. Lead discs may not be required as per NCRP 147.
El Dorado Metals offers a wide range of radiation shielding design services which include lead brick wall and ceiling systems complete with structural steel supports when needed. We have crews trained in the safe and quality installation of lead brick and lead plate and the associated steel structures that often are required.
Interlocking lead bricks are excellent for adding additional lead shielding to existing therapy vaults or treatment rooms as well as in new construction where available space is an issue. Lead brick can be installed in walls and ceilings where access is limited or difficult.
Our lead bricks are available in 3/4", 1", 1 1/2" and 2" thicknesses. Each lead brick features a tongue and groove design that eliminates streaming at the joints.
Lead Sheet and Plate is available in chemical, copper bearing, and a variety of antimonial alloys.
Sizes available are up to 96" Wide x 300" OAL, with minimum thickness of .032" up to 3" available. All products conform to commercial standards of ASTM-B29; B-749; Federal QQ-L-201f; and QQ-L-171e. Required specifications must be defined at time of order for proper laboratory certification. All lead sheet and plate are protective wrapped, and banded prior to shipping.
El Dorado's X-Ray glass (also known as leaded glass or radiation shielding glass) is manufactured with high quality material and has excellent purity and visibility characteristics. We offer our leaded x-ray glass in sizes up to 48" x 96". Our X-Ray glass can be cut to suit your radiation shielding needs for any job of any size.
El Dorado's lead lined door frames are manufactured from cold rolled 16 gauge steel. 14 gauge and 12 gauge lead lined door frames are available upon request. We offer either fully welded frames or knock-down frames although knock-down door frames are not recommended for use with pivot hinges. Lead lined door frames shall be suitably reinforced for closers, brackets and all other surface applied hardware. Drilling and tapping of surface hardware is typically done in the field by the installer. Our lead lined door frames are painted with a coat of rust inhibiting primer paint prior to delivery.

Two Piece Slip Frames
With El Dorado two-piece slip frames, any existing rough opening can be wrapped with a lead line welded window frame that is very close in appearance to a borrowed light frame. Frames are made standard with a single rabbet (double rabbet shown in isometric drawing) and removable stop and, unlike typical telescoping view frames, are available with mullions. Frames are ordered from El Dorado using actual glass size. To calculate the rough opening necessary from the actual glass size, add 1 ¾" to the width and ¾" to the height of the glass. To calculate the overall frame dimensions from the actual glass size, add 4 ¼" to the width and 4 ¼" to the height of the glass.
Telescoping control window frames are supplied fully lead lined with an integral all purpose telescoping section to accommodate all types of wall construction. Frames are designed to fit walls ranging from 4 inches to 6 ¼ inches thick. The standard 2 inch face x ½ inch deep face return is aesthetically pleasing and is constructed of 16 gauge steel with corners fully welded and ground smooth. Frames are ordered from El Dorado using actual glass size. To calculate the rough opening necessary from the actual glass size, add 1 ½" to the width and 1 ½" to the height of the glass. To calculate the overall frame dimensions from the actual glass size, add 4 ¼" to the width and 4 ¼" to the height of the glass.
HD Block are made for site specific requirements for Gamma and Neutron radiation with varying densities. It's interlocking design will insure all shielding integrity is met for any new construction or room upgrades. The integration of HD Blocks with other shielding materials can be achieved dependent upon need and requirement. HD Block are ideal for:

Our borated polyethylene sheets come in two common densities 5% or 30% boron content by weight. We can also provide pure polyethylene which contains no boron. Mobile Radiation Shields put the shielding where you need it. Wheel and Swivel locks are on each caster which provide secure placement. Shields are custom built per customers specifications. Multiple sizes with varying lead thicknesses are available.
Enclosures can be pre-fabricated in our facility prior to installation. They consist of free standing structural steel framed panels and more than one door with optional control windows. Pre-fabricated panels sections consist of steel- lead-steel panels (per customers requirements). All edges are covered by steel, and incorporate lead joint strip. Physical dimensions can be designed and engineered per customers specifications. Radiation shielding requirements are per the architect or radiological physicists specifications.
El Dorado can fabricate the door systems that accompany our enclosures, as well as any specialty doors for other areas inside the research facility. All door systems can be engineered per customer specifications with electric or mechanical operators.
