Lead linings have a proven track record for the sulfuric acid, specialty chemical, metal finishing, and mining industries. Lead possesses the characteristic of being able to withstand immense stress and heat as well as various corrosives under such conditions. The relatively low stability of lead requires a carrier or construction material, usually steel or concrete; however, solid lead construction is sometimes used.
